Minister for Environment and Climate Change Ryan Smith is encouraging industry, community and local government to have their say about Victoria’s waste, following the recent release of the Waste Policy Review discussion paper.
Minister Smith has instructed the Department of Sustainability and Environment (DSE) to review Victorian waste policy, in partnership with agencies including the Environment Protection Authority, Sustainability Victoria, and the Metropolitan Waste Management Group.
Mr Smith said that it is essential to rethink what is regarded as waste, and the potential for its treatment recovery.
DSE released the discussion paper ahead of a stakeholder engagement program across the state in early 2012.
