The Lake Macquarie Council has set up a series of information stalls providing residents with details about future cycling routes listed in the Council's Draft Cycling Strategy 2011-2021.
The Draft Cycling Strategy is a plan to make cycling an easy, safe, and attractive choice of transport for residents in the Lake Macquarie region.
The plan outlines the infrastructure needed to ensure a safer cycling environment and the social initiatives that will encourage more people to cycle.
The Lake Macquarie Council’s Asset Manager, Glen Walker, said “The information stalls will have maps and staff available to encourage people to learn about the proposed cycling routes and whether they think they’re a good idea.”
The draft strategy was developed after an online survey and focus group workshops were held to find out why more residents don’t ride and what changes would encourage them to take up cycling.
