Warrnambool Art Gallery, Flagstaff Hill Maritime Village and the Civic Centre are among 12 sites set to undergo energy efficiency audits to improve Warrnambool City Council’s sustainability practices.
The audits follow a two week community consultation during which members of the public were asked for their thoughts on climate change and carbon pricing.
Climate change officer James Osborne said “A very clear message that was conveyed through these surveys is that the Warrnambool community expects Council to demonstrate environmental leadership, to walk the sustainability talk and keep costs down while providing a range of quality public facilities and services.”
Mr Osborne said auditors would provide a detailed report on their findings and make recommendations for improvements. The report will inform Council’s Climate Change Action Plan, along with feedback collected from community surveys.
