The system will generate approximately 110 MW hours of electricity per annum, equivalent to the power used by 15 households.

The system will comprise of 285 PV panels, and will be one of the 30 largest PV installations in Australia according to Dubbo City Council's most recent Renewable Energy Feasibility Study.

Dubbo Mayor Mathew Dickerson said "The expected savings are up to $25,000 in annual electricity costs for Council and 88 tonnes of carbon for the environment.”

Other initiatives at Dubbo City include solar pool heating of the children's pool at the Dubbo Aquatic and Leisure Centre, the energy smart Dubbo Family Day Care Centre, the 4 kW solar system and solar car park lighting at the Dubbo Regional Theatre and Convention Centre, and lighting upgrades at local ovals.
